The Answer to Current Disposable Glove Challenges
Cross-Contamination
Gloves are often hard to retrieve from the box due to the current dispensing system and multiple touch points of the box, and the gloves increase surface contamination.
Packaging, Packing, Storage and Logistics
Current glove packing systems require oversized dispenser boxes to allow for the glove to pull out and generate an inefficient use of space and excess packaging.
Glove Wastage and Costs
Current glove dispensing systems can cause multiple gloves to be pulled out simultaneously. These unused gloves are normally discarded thus creating wastage.
Carbon Emission
Disposable gloves are a billion-dollar industry with its own environmental impact from manufacture to transport and end of life product disposal.
Innovation
There has been minimal to little innovation in the disposable gloves category for years, it was time to rethink how we do things.
5 Facts About Disposable Gloves
1
Manufacturing
Manufacturing disposable gloves requires manual labour. Gloves are stripped from formers and then packed by hand. This means there is a higher risk of contamination through handling.
2
Logistics
Standard gloves are ‘stuffed’ into dispensers. This is inefficient and a large amount of air is retained in the dispenser.
3
Dispensing
It’s almost impossible to remove one glove at a time from a new box. Of those that spill from dispensers, a minimum of 10% are thrown away, and frequently spilled gloves are pushed back into the box.
4
Donning
Gloves are presented randomly. You might pull out one glove by its finger or thumb. These are critical gripping surfaces that need to stay clean.
5
Productivity
With so many spilled and random presentations, putting on a glove takes more time than it should. This reduces time spent on your task.
“Disposable gloves are a highly commoditised product and standard industry practice offers limited scope for efficiency gains. SafeDon® technology and innovation combat all these industry inefficiencies.”
